About the Painting:
Medium: Watercolor on Arches 140# professional paper
Size: Approx. 8×10″
In my beginners class last week, I set up a still life for my students to paint. It was actually fairly large with a basket and numerous vegetables. These were sitting to the side of the basket and made a well designed painting all by themselves. In setting up a still life to paint, you need to have a good strong light source. In this case, because the room is so light from surrounding windows, I used a 500 watt bulb in a photographer’s lamp to get the strong shading needed for definition.
